MSNBC’s José Díaz-Balart and his team are doing a unique and extensive coverage on the immigration debate that frankly, no other network is doing. And if there’s anyone who has the bilingual and bicultural skills to do so, it’s definitely Díaz-Balart. Logically, when talking about a matter such as immigration, candid moments in both languages are bound to happen. In this case he interviews María Cruz Ramírez who joined the protests outside the DNC headquarters. María says she lived in the U.S. for more than 13 years, Cruz said she is fearful the delay of executive action could cause her to be separated from her three daughters, whom she also refers to as DREAMers. “We came especially to say please come through with your promises,” Cruz told msnbc’s Jose Diaz-Balart. “We’re human beings and we’re running the risk that by the time he passes executive orders, something might happen … Maybe I’ll be deported.”
While the interview does have its share of inaudible, if not awkward moments, this is a very delicate matter, but as we all know, to Laura Ingraham, it’s yet another chance to mock immigrants and, in many ways Democrats. The conservative talk host had a ball with this interview. “Does he need to pronounce her name correctly!? María Cruz Ramírez, María Cruz Ramírez. What if they were in Pakistan?” Was one of the more tame remarks Ingraham made. We only hope this goes to show how irresponsible it is to give this woman a platform to discriminate, mock and hate on people who do not even know she exists.
