Although NBC canceled the hilarious comedy "Community" starring Joel McHale it seems the series may have a second chance at life. It is said the television programming company is in early talks with Hulu to revive the show for a sixth season.
Sony "Community’s" parent studio is talking with the online streaming service to create “more original installments of the show,” according to Deadline. Early last month the show was canceled but there was speculation that the show would find life on another network.
When “Community” was first canceled there was rumors that Netflix would pick up the show but that rumors was immediately squashed by creator Dan Harmon who responded to the fans campaigns in a blog post on his Tumblr account. Harmon admitted that he wasn’t necessarily enthusiastic about pursuing a sixth season of the series on another network after hearing the news of the cancelation.
“I will confess, however, that when Sony called me on Friday with the news, there was brief discussion at the end of the call about the concept of the show living elsewhere, and I was definitely in the ‘eh’ column,” he wrote.
“But it doesn’t matter right now WHY I’d be lukewarm or if my reasons would be valid, what matters is, I won’t be lukewarm,” he went on. “I’ll heat up. I said ‘eh’ on a Friday afternoon, I will change it to a “sure, let’s talk” on Monday morning and Sony can do their thing. I’m not going to be the guy that recancels canceled Community.”
If indeed he Harmon has warmed up to the idea of bringing the show to another network then Hulu would be more beneficial than Netflix and the latter requires monthly subscriptions in order to watch any content at all.
Deadline reports that the talks are “preliminary” and it “is unclear whether they would lead to a deal,” but both sides are “willing” to give the show a season six should they come to an acceptable agreement.
