"This Is Us" Season 6 is set to premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 4 with NBC releasing a featurette that gives a peek into the final chapter of the Pearson family. With only a few days before its premiere, fans will be given several glimpses of what lies ahead in the first two episodes of its final season.
According to Collider, the featurette footage mainly focuses on the recent Alzheimer diagnosis of Rebecca, which is played by Mandy Moore. As the show has done in earlier seasons, teaser clips of Season 6 include a back and forward reflection on some of the most memorable moments from the past five seasons as well as teaser parts from season 6.
Fans are highly encouraged to keep their tissue boxes at arms’ reach as the emotional rollercoaster ride will be punched up with the reactions of the main cast about the show drawing to a close this year.
The featurette looks into the first episode, “The Challenger,” where Kate, Kevin, and Randall celebrate their 41st birthday. This would mark five years after their birthday celebration that kicked off the family drama in 2016.
Short glimpses on episode two, “Lovebirds”, highlight a road trip with Nicky, Miguel, and Rebecca.
Much of the bawlfest would revolve around Rebecca’s Alzheimer’s. She is seen worrying about having to forget the “little things” about the life she has shared with her husband Jack and her children as the featurette intercuts into different well-loved scenes.
Despite being reputed to be a massive tearjerker, "This Is Us" actor Chris Sullivan says the final season is quite joyful.
The drama series has been lauded for its audience relatability, and while the show comes to an end, the cast hopes that the series will leave an impact on its audience and continue on to be a lasting legacy.
Cast interviews are also included in the clips as they tearfully look back on the show and the work they have done. "I hope that people find the parallels between their lives and what they're seeing on the show,” Moore said. "It's so wild to be a part of the show that means so much to so many people," she added.
Milo Ventimiglia said he hopes that the idea of a family as the way they have lived it in the series will break barriers and resonate with the audience’s personal lives.
"This Is Us "will air on NBC in the US on Jan. 4, while Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video will premiere the show in the UK beginning Jan. 6.
