Comedian Tries to Get North Carolina Republican to Autograph Infamous

A political comedy duo targeted a North Carolina Republican candidate in their latest video for social media, asking her to autograph tweets where she calls for "death to traitors" and suggests publicly executing former President Barack Obama.

One half of The Good Liars comedy duo, Jason Selvig, posed as a fan asking for a signature from Michele Morrow in the pair's latest video.

Morrow is the Republican candidate for North Carolina Superintendent of Public Instruction, a homeschooling parent, and responsible for tweeting "Death to traitors!" on multiple occasions.

"I'm really a fan of all the work that you've done," Selvig claims before asking if he can grab her autograph. Initially, Morrow appears flattered. "Oh, you're so kind," she says. Selvig then hands her a pen and printed off copies of two controversial tweets she posted in 2020.

Selvig reads the first tweet out loud and Morrow sets down the pen. "Actually, I do mind signing it, but nice to meet you," she says as she begins to walk away.

"Well, why won't you sign it? This is your tweet, right?" Selvig presses as she walks away. "Will you sign this other one about killing Obama on pay-per-view?"

Selvig looks to the camera and says, "Well, she tweeted it that she wanted Obama to be killed by a firing squad on pay-per-view but she wouldn't sign the tweet."

Morrow's "death to traitors" tweets have been accompanied by other inflammatory rhetoric, including the promotion of Q-Anon conspiracy theories, calling teachers "groomers," and referring to public schools as "indoctrination centers," NPR reported.

Morrow has not yet held public office, though she ran and lost the election for a school board seat two years ago. In this election cycle, Morrow surprised many by unseating the incumbent state schools superintendent by winning the Republican nomination.

"I really want to get safety and discipline as well as academics back in the classroom, and not have any politics and all of the social activism that we have," Morrow told voters.

Morrow is opposed in the upcoming election by Democratic candidate Mo Green.
