The odds are favoring the Arkansas State Red Wolves against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers ahead of their college football clash on Saturday at the Centennial Bank Stadium in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
The Red Wolves, who will be entering the match as the second-place team in Group B state just behind LA-Lafayette, are 10-point spread favorites, good for a 1.26 (-389) money line price. Meanwhile, the Chanticleers will parade a 23% chance of an upset at 4.36 (+336) money line price.
The underdog Coastal Carolina is currently dead last in the Sun Belt Group A stage holding a 4-5 record and an awful 1-4 record in conference play.
The teams are expected to score 64 points in total with the Overs market offered at 1.93 (-107) while the Unders are at 1.9 (-111).
The visiting Chanticleers have not gotten any rhythm this season as they seem ill-fated to be grouped with a bunch of strong college football teams in their conference. The offense has not been a problem for them so far as they average a total of 30 points per game. However, this decent scoring output is negated by their inability to limit their opponents from notching an output lower than their point average.
Coastal Carolina will rely on Fred Payton and CJ Marable as they shoot for a stunner. The quarterbacking Payton has completed 91 passes to date at a 65.5 percent rate, averages 7.7 passing yards per attempt and was responsible for seven touchdown passes. Marable, meanwhile, already has a total of 650 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns while averaging 4.9 yards per carry.
The home team Arkansas State, on the other hand, are on the groove after taking down LA-Monroe to post their second straight win. The team is aware, though, that the team still needs to find its stability on both ends. With just a few little tweaks, we should expect the Red Wolves to cruise deep in the tournament.
Layne Hatcher is expected to maneuver the Red Wolves anew. As of the moment, he averages 9.6 passing yards per attempt and has accumulated a total of 111 completed passes at 68.5 percent efficiency, 1560 passing yards and 14 passing touchdowns.
Marcel Murray is one key player to watch out for as well as the running back currently holds a 5.7 yards per carrying average and has already put up 647 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns.
Prediction:
Arkansas State’s got an offensive juggernaut that would simply overwhelm Coastal Carolina’s defensive unit. The Red Wolves are also sending the better defensive squad on the field plus the fact that they are playing at home. This will be a walkthrough for Arkansas State, 37-27.
