There will be one Los Angeles-based squad that will see its winning streak snapped on Tuesday, Jan. 24, when the Clippers and the Lakers collide at the Crypto.com Arena.
Both teams are coming off two consecutive wins and one of them will end on Tuesday.
The Clippers are coming off a 112-98 win over the Dallas Mavericks, a game that saw Kawhi Leonard and Paul George lead the way.
Leonard finished with 30 points and nine rebounds while George chipped in 21 markers and six boards.
“When our two main guys are playing, we’re a different team,” Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue stated.
The Clippers are scoring 109.7 points per game, 28th in the NBA. The Clips also own an offensive rating of 111.1, 25th in the league.
On the defensive side, the Clippers are limiting the opposition to 110.5 points per contest, 4th in the league. They also have a defensive rating of 112, 10th in the NBA.
As far as the Lakers are concerned, they have proven to defy the odds and pull off wins. They did that against the favored Memphis Grizzlies (122-121) and repeated that feat against the Portland Trail Blazers, 121-112.
LeBron James led the way in that win over Portland with 37 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. Backing him up was Thomas Bryant who came out with an All-Star performance with 31 points and 14 boards.
“We’ve been through it a lot. And I just want to try to continue to keep improving, throughout late games and one-possession games, two-possession games when we’re down late," James said. “And tonight we did a good job of being able to execute defensively and offensively.”
The Lakers are scoring 117.1 points per game, 7th in the league. They also have an offensive rating of 113.3, 15th in the NBA.
Defensively, the Lakers are limiting opposing teams to 118 points per contest, 26th in the league. They own a defensive rating of 113.8, 20th in the league.
The Clippers are installed as -4 favorites to prevail over the Lakers who are at +4. The Moneyline for this matchup is -172 for the LA Clippers and +144 for the LA Lakers.
