Karla Alvarez unexpectedly died at the age of 41 Friday, November 15 and the entertainment world has been mourning the loss. Amidst all the chaos and confusion the name of another actress, Claudia Alvarez, was mistakenly thrown into the mix. Due to the similarities in their names, fans thought that the "Porque El Amor Manda" star was the one that lost her life. "Hey, don't put RIP me please. It feels horrible seeing that... It was Karla Alvarez who died," the actress clarified on her Facebook profile. Condolences kept coming in for Alvarez and she then took to Twitter to clear things up again by writing, "I am fine... I feel for the death of Karla Alvarez."
Claudia Alvarez did everything to make everyone aware she had not died, but to further add to the confusion Telemundo's "Al Rojo Vivo" Facebook page notified of Karla's death and to illustrate the post was a picture of Claudia. A fan of the Mexican actress tweeted her along with a screen capture of the Facebook post. "Claudia look, they killed you on Telemundo." Alvarez replied, "They have scared my mother and everyone please correct it." Telemundo made the correction and deleted the post and picture. The same message appeared minutes later with the picture of the now deceased actress.
Karla Alvarez's death shocked celebrities that were close or worked with the actress. Thalía, who was the star of Karla's debut telenovela, "María Mercedes," wrote on expressed her feelings on Twitter saying, "Very saddened by the parting of Karlita álvarez. Great memories of 'María Mercedes.' Prayers for her family. Rest in peace." Kate del Castillo who worked with Karla in 1998 on the Televisa producion of "La Mentira" expressed her sadness towards the loss of the actress. "You left too soon my dear Karla Alvarez, you will be missed here," the actress wrote on Instagram with a picture of both of them on the set of the telenovela they co-starred in. She added, "I will never forget the marvelous moments that we lived together. My prayers are with your family." Aracely Arámbula who worked with the actress in "Alma Rebelde" said, "Deeply saddened today... I feel sorry for the loss of our dear colleague Karla. I love you álvarez and I hug you from here.."
