Chiquis Rivera, who has been like a mother to her siblings since she was 10, finally has a baby of her own. Jenni Rivera’s daughter presented her first album “Ahora” during a press conference on Monday. The singer mentioned she intends to dedicate herself fully to this new project which will be available for purchase on June 2.

Chiquis stated that all the recent comments about her lack of musical talent have encourage her to do better, “Thanks to those people who have said I can’t sing, they have motivated me to keep going forward. My grandpa once said to me: ‘People are not born singing, you learn to sing.’”

She also shared there were times when she fell like quitting due to the lack of support from the press, and the constant criticism, “There were several moments where I just wanted to back down because people were so mean. But in those moments, I thought of my mom, and I cried a lot, I threw a fit, and then I got up and felt better. Because if she could do it and it was much harder for her, a lot of doors were closed in her face, there were times when she actually saw people throwing her CDs in the trash, then I can do it too.”

Rivera says that she inherited her mother’s business savviness, “I am a business woman.” Among her future projects are: the publication of her second book, which she just started writing, the release of her first movie “Tattooed Love,” a clothing line, and she is still expressing her want to play her mother in the upcoming autobiographical movie about “La Diva de la Banda.”
