Just in time for Valentine's Day, reports revealed that Billboard’s 2020 Woman of the Year Cardi B and her husband Offset opted to sport some fresh and matching ink by grabbing the tattoo gun and drawing their wedding date on each other’s wrists.
According to TMZ, the couple, who tied the knot on Sept. 20, 2017, was first spotted with their new tats while filming an episode for "Cardi Tries." The dates would line up when Cardi, born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, and Offset, born Kiari Kendrell Cephus, hold hands.
Sources said the original plan was just for Cardi, 29, to give the “Open It Up” rapper, 30, a tattoo but her other half insisted on getting a couple's tat, a proposal which the mother of two gladly agreed to.
Offset is notorious for spoiling his wife and daughter with lavish gifts. Notably last year, he purchased a Caribbean mansion as a gift for Cardi’s 29th birthday. The property features 6 bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms, a private studio, and an infinity pool.
The “Ring” singer began dating her fellow rapper in early 2017 and would secretly wed the same year. A year later, she shocked fans when she revealed a surprise pregnancy during a performance on “Saturday Night Live” in April, giving birth to her daughter, Kulture Kiari, in July 2018.
Amid rumors that the couple had parted ways in September 2020 after the "Girls Like You" hitmaker reportedly filed for divorce. However, they appeared to have reconciled and just eventually got pregnant with their second baby, who was welcomed to the world in late 2021, the Showbiz Cheatsheet noted.
Since the little boy was born, the Grammy-award-winning rapper refrained from placing the 5-month-old out in the spotlight. The child's name also remains a mystery amid reports the “Bodak Yellow” rapper wanted to hit the headlines once the cat is out of the bag.
"Random but ….I'm 1 percent close to tatting my son's name on my face….I really wanna do it!" the star said last month. In a follow-up tweet, she noted she wanted the personalized ink on her jaw, according to People.
Meanwhile, Cardi and Offset’s tattoo session will be aired for the newest "Cardi Tries” episode, which will drop ahead of Valentine’s Day on online platforms, including Instagram, Messenger, and Facebook Watch.
