Cardi B's Twitter account was shut down during the 2022 Grammy Awards on Sunday night (April 3), amid a feud with her fanbase.
Cardi B slammed fans who targeted her and her children because she didn't attend the Grammy Awards on Sunday.
At 9:04 p.m., she wrote (per Billboard): “I’m deleting my twitter but On God I hate this fuckin dumbass fan base .You got the slow dumbasses dragging my kids all cause y’all though I was going to the Grammys and I didn’t the fuck ? When the fuck I hinted I was going ?just fuvkin stupid I can’t I needs to protect myself.”
Cardi said in another tweet that she has been tweeting on her IG stories about her whereabouts. She implied that she was not at the Grammys in Las Vegas.
Cardi responded to posts addressing her children with "y’all so f—in dumb I really don’t like y’all" and fought barbs with people tweeting badly at her before deactivating her account.
She then deactivated her account a few minutes after. Meanwhile, Cardi B's Instagram account is still up and active.
Complex said Cardi B went on Instagram Live shortly after deleting her Twitter account to explain why she made the decision and why she was "irritated."
According to reports, Cardi B also appeared to be under pressure from some to follow up her 2018 studio debut album, "Invasion of Privacy," with new music.
Cardi B is far from the only nominee who has opted out of tonight's ceremony. Selena Gomez was also absent, as were Taylor Swift and Kanye West, nominated for Album of the Year.
In February, Cardi B spoke with Mariah Carey for Interview magazine about what an average day in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak has been like for her. She acknowledged Twitter's importance in her life at the moment.
It's unknown whether Cardi's departure from the site is temporary or permanent as of writing.
Cardi B has previously deactivated her Twitter account. She temporarily disabled her account in March 2021, citing irritation with fans demanding a new album. She took a break from Twitter in October 2020 after fans began criticizing her personal life and pestering Offset.
