Last night, at 9:09 p.m. a magnitude 5.1 earthquake shook the Los Angeles area. The U.S Geological Survey said that the quake was centered near Brea in Orange County, more or less 20 miles of downtown LA. There were no reports of injuries or significant damage. There were dozens of aftershocks that struck into the night that had magnitudes ranging from 2-3.6. “Up to this time, we’ve had over 30 aftershocks we’ve recorded. Three of those aftershocks have been greater than magnitude 3.” said U.S. Geological Survey geophysicist Robert Graves
It was felt as far south as San Diego and as far north as Ventura County. About 2,000 residents had no power after the quake. Public safety official said crews were inspecting rail tracks, bridges, dams and other infrastructure to check for any damages. There was a rock slide in the Carbon Canyon are caused a car to overturn, the people inside the car had minor injuries, said the Brea police department.
"A lot of the glass in the place shook like crazy. It started like a roll and then it started shaking like crazy. Everybody ran outside, hugging each other in the streets,” one of the residents of the area said.
