Caitlyn Marie Jenner, formerly known as retired Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner, was shoved well into the limelight after she came out as a trans woman in April 2015. The 69-year-old woman also became extremely well known for her relationship with Kris Jenner and being the father of Kendall and Kylie Jenner and a stepfather to Kourtney, Kim and Khloe Kardashian.
The so-called most famous openly transgender woman — who underwent sex reassignment surgery in 2017 — faced a lot of criticisms and issues in the past few years, but she relentlessly pursued her true identity. Here are some of the issues in Caitlyn’s life that emerged after her transition.
Poor Relationship With Children
The parent of six unfortunately can’t keep a close relationship with her children and stepchildren. Brody Jenner is reportedly upset with her for missing his wedding to longtime girlfriend Kaitlynn Carter. She was also spotted in an argument with Kendall, where her daughter was heard shouting angrily at her for “always turning her back on the family.”
She does reveal in her book, however, that she regrets not being closer to her family. “I had to do whatever it took to make them a part of my life,” Caitlyn wrote. “I needed to assert myself. But I could not. So I let go of them, which is a softer way of saying I abandoned them. Because I did abandon them.”
Criticisms About Romantic Relationship
Caitlyn is currently rumored to have a girlfriend, Sophia Hutchins, who is actually 47 years younger than her. The huge age gap has caused a lot of questions to be thrown by critics, but Khloe readily went to their defence.
“She’s really sweet,” Khloe said. “She’s younger, but she’s not bothering anyone. She’s super sweet.”
Estranged Relationship With Kris Jenner
After the huge issue that blew up regarding her ex-wife Kris, the two have become cold and distant from each other. Caitlyn’s relationship has become strained with the Kardashian family as a result, but they still get together once in a while for appearances.
“Kris and Caitlyn interact when they have to for the kids,” a source revealed. “It’s important for Kylie and Kendall. They can be cordial, but like most exes, they’re never going to be best friends.”
Depression
Even prior to her coming out, the media’s scrutiny weighed heavily on her mind, causing a bit of depression. There were reportedly times that she even thought of taking her own life.
Coming out to the public in turn caused some different issues and circumstances as well, but Jenner has no regrets about it at all. “I have never been happier,” she said. “Transitioning back? It’s the opposite.”
