After revealing last month that she was suffering from thyroid cancer, star Brooke Burke- Charvet announced to fans that she was preparing for surgery this week on her Facebook page.
"I'm getting ready this week for my surgery and am planning on a speedy recovery," she wrote. "What a crazy time, but I am surrounded with love and support and that really makes a world of difference."
The "Dancing With the Stars" co-host is maintaining an optimistic outlook while she undertakes surgery for her thyroid cancer, and will be keeping fans posted on her progress via her Facebook page and blog on the Modern Moms website.
"I am touched and appreciative to all of you for sharing your positive wishes for my surgery, and for sharing many of your personal thyroid experiences," Burke-Charvet wrote on her Facebook page. "I really do read your comments and they all mean a lot to me. I'm getting ready this week for my surgery and am planning on a speedy recovery."
The former E! host added: "I'll be posting some new blogs on ModernMom.com about how I've been dealing with it all and how my family has been handling it too. What a crazy time, but I am surrounded with love and support and that really makes a world of difference. Thank you for following me and for all your thoughts and prayers. I feel it, truly, and your energy outweighs my stress! From the bottom of my heart, thank you."
The 41-year-old mother of four first announced her diagnosis in a video she filmed Nov. 8, saying she was "ready to deal" with the disease.
"I'm going to be a good patient and do everything I'm supposed to do," she insisted in the video.
"Now I'm good and I'm ready to deal with it and I'm going to be fine," she said. "I feel really, really strong. Doctors say that this is a "good kind of cancer to have."
"That sounds so crazy. But my doctor did tell me that this is a happily ever after ending kind of thing."
Huddled up on her bed, Burke-Charvet revealed in the video that she was forced to have numerous additional tests after her initial test failed to determine if the nodule was cancerous or benign.
"I had to go through a whole bunch of additional tests and get second opinions. Long story. I got my results back and they were not good," she said.
"I need to have thyroid surgery, a thyroidectomy, which means that I am going to have a nice big scar, right here, across my neck. I don't get to just walk around and pretend like nothing happened or not follow up or not share it, because it's going to be pretty much dead center. I don't want anybody to read about it and get the wrong idea, or think that I'm sick, because I'm not. I want to tell you that when I saw my cancer news everywhere, it scared me - so I can only imagine the impact that it had on everyone else."
"I want to assure everyone that my condition is manageable and I am taking all the proper steps," she said. "I never thought I would be applauded by my courage to share the news in a home video."
