Fans rejoiced after “Friends Reunion” has been confirmed last month. All the main cast members that include Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer announced via social media that they are reuniting.
In connection with this, it was reported that Brad Pitt had a hand in convincing Aniston to play Rachel again and go for the show reunion that millions of fans have been clamoring for years. According to Closer magazine via Mirror, the actor was one of the reasons why the “Friends Reunion” is happening because he advised his first ex-wife to go for it.
Aniston was said to be reluctant to do “Friends” again with her co-stars turned real-life close friends. However, after supposedly talking with her ex-husband who pushed her to do it, she finally agreed.
Based on the report, the 51-year-old actress contacted Pitt after their reunion during her 50th birthday celebration last year. She sought his advice as she is not sure if it is a good idea. Apparently, Pitt told her that this is the best time for the cast to return as the show is also celebrating its 25th anniversary in October.
“After reuniting with Brad on her birthday last year, she asked him for advice,” a source told Closer Magazine. “He said he thought it would be a great idea to honor their success and that fans still hold the show in such high regard.”
The Sun reported Aniston is the last artist to sign the contract for the “Friends Reunion” special and she is set to make over $5 million from the project.
The actress and all her co-stars in the hit 90s American sitcom will be reuniting for an unscripted show special. It was said that Ellen DeGeneres will host the show that will air on HBO Max. additionally, it was learned that the show is meant to help launch the “Friends” series on the newest streaming service provider that will be introduced in May.
Finally, the original executive producers of “Friends” David Crane and Marta Kaufmann will still be partly involved in “Friends Reunion” special. The latter previously confirmed that the upcoming show is not a reboot or a reunion series but will be a celebration of family and friends.
“We will not be doing a reunion show, we will not be doing a reboot,” Deadline quoted Kauffman as saying last year. “The show was about that time in life when friends are your family.”
