The "Naruto New Era Opening Project," also known as "Naruto Shin Jidai Kaimaku Project," is only getting started! Following "The Last: Naruto the Movie," manga creator Masashi Kishimoto announced that "Boruto: Naruto the Movie," a sequel to "The Last," is slated to arrive in theaters by August 2015.
We discussed certain "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" plot elements earlier this year when we first learned that the main villain in the new movie is none other than the infamous Orochimaru.
The incredible Orochimaru arc in the original Naruto anime is undoubtedly one of the most pivotal moments in the anime when we learned Orochimaru initially intended to use Sasuke's body as a vessel for immortality. At the same time, Sasuke became a traitor to the Leaf Village by joining Orochimaru to become stronger.
We all believed Sasuke and his brother Itachi ultimately killed Orochimaru when Itachi unleashed his Susanoo and Amaterasu. However, the legendary Sannin was resurrected by Sasuke amid the Fourth Shinobi World War.
As the manga fast-forwards to "Boruto: Naruto the Movie," the Fourth Great Shinobi War is over and the ninja world enjoys peace again. However, we now learn that Orochimaru has been biding his time to return once again.
WARNING: Spoilers Below
At the end of "The Last: Naruto the Movie," we get to see Naruto and Hinata become parents to two adorable children, son Bolt and daughter Himawari. In "Boruto: Naruto the Movie," we will be introduced to Sakura and Sasuke's daughter Sarada as well.
Orochimaru is paying particularly close to these children as their rare and powerful bloodline is destined for greatness. Bolt possesses both the Uzumaki chakra as well as the Byakugan of the Hyuga family. Meanwhile, Sarada possesses the powerful Sharingan of the Uchiha clan.
Beyond the threat of Orochimaru and the likely faceoff between the legendary Sannin and Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura of Team 7, anime sites are speculating a side story of an adorable puppy love romance dynamic between Bolt and Sarada. This rumor is also reinforced by the curious interaction between Bolt and Sarada in the Naruto manga Chapter 700 epilogue.
The "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" release date is slated for August 2015. Stay tuned as we learn more about "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" in the months ahead!
