Following one of the most successful seasons in club history, Borussia Dortmund has every reason to believe they can be a competitive football franchise moving forward.

Advancing to the 2012-2013 UEFA Champions League Final by defeating European power Real Madrid, Dortmund's phenomenal run would come up just short as they fell to German rival Bayern Munich 2-1 in the CL Title match last weekend.

Multiple reports indicate, however, that Dortmund may have to build on future success without the services of star striker Robert Lewandowski, who is garnering strong attention from the club that recently ended Dortmund's hopes of winning the Champions League.

As the situation surrounding Lewandowski's future remains somewhat uncertain, Dortmund manager Juergen Klopp wants the speculation to quiet down since no one can control the situation except Lewandowski himself.

"We will ensure in the coming days that a line is drawn under the speculation," Klopp said to reporters. "We will see what happens. Anything is possible, but I can work with every scenario. The only strange thing is that everybody is acting as if the issue has already been resolved. Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes says this, his agent says that. The way things are going is not very pretty."

Speaking to reporters from The Guardian, the 24-year-old superstar addressed the situation in saying that he is looking forward to some rest following the UEFA Title loss and that he'll focus on his future when he returns from World Cup qualifying with the Polish national team after their June 7 game against Moldova.

"I'll be back in Dortmund a little after that," Lewandowski said to reporters. "I'll go to the national team and then we'll see what happens."

Lewandowski was one of the most explosive offensive players this season, finishing the year with a total of 33 goals in German league and Champions League contests combined. The Warsaw, Poland native also notched an unprecedented 4 goals in a 4-1 UEFA Champions League semifinal victory over Real Madrid.

With recent rumors swirling around that his star striker has already received an offer from Bayern Munich, Juergen Klopp confidently stated that he believes Lewandowski will in fact be a part of the Dortmund franchise next season.

"As things stand, there is no official offer from Bayern Munich," Klopp said in a statement release through Bleacher Report. "I expect Robert to be playing for us next season."

If Dortmund decides they want to part ways with the rising soccer talent, they'd undoubtedly receive a large transfer fee from the team Lewandowski goes to. If a move happens, that team will most likely be Bayern Munich.

That may be the move to make for the simple fact that if Dortmund lets the situation play out on its own, Lewandowski may decide to depart the team once his contract is up at the end of next season, leaving Dortmund with nothing in return for one of the best players in the game.
