The body found in a burned cabin on Feb. 11 may be the body of Christopher Dorner. The 33-year-old was the subject of a highly public and tragic manhunt that ended the same day. A furious shootout took place at the now-burnt-to-the-ground cabin on Feb. 11.

Fugitive cop Christopher Dorner stole two cars, barricaded himself in a vacant cabin, shot and killed one sheriff deputy and wounded another before he disappeared into the cabin moments before the building went up in smoke.

It gets stranger. Christopher Dorner posted on Facebook that he expected to die in one final, violent confrontation with the police. After the building burst into flames, he never emerged from the ruins.

"We have reason to believe that it is him," San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman Cynthia Bachman said, referring to the body in the burned cabin.

Reportedly, a gunshot was heard from inside the burned cabin before it caught on fire. It is suspected that Christopher Donner may have killed himself before setting the cabin ablaze.

Hours after the shootout, the body in the burned cabin was found. According to an anonymous official, a wallet and personal items were also found. These items included a California driver's license with the name Christopher Dorner on it. The coroner's office is studying the remains to determine identity.

Los Angeles Police Department officials said the identification time would be contingent upon the availability of forensics labs and the condition of the body. It is still not known how the cabin caught on fire.
