Bioware has dropped another hint for the upcoming fourth installment of its dark fantasy game series “Dragon Age.”
The video game company posted on Twitter to mark the tenth anniversary of the “Dragon Age” series. It also mentioned that it is joining the “Dragon Age” community’s December 4 party – an unofficial event started solely by fans of the dark fantasy series to celebrate the video game.
Bioware has not revealed any additional details, but the “Dragon 4ge” phrase at the end of its tweet hints of a surprise about “Dragon Age 4”, the much-awaited installment that supposedly was released back in 2017.
A teaser trailer for the fourth game in the series was released in December 2018, but game critics and fans reportedly observed that the game was only at an early development stage. No additional teasers, images and official concept art had been posted since.
Game producer Electronic Arts already announced late October that a new version of “Dragon Age” is expected not earlier than 2022.
“I mean you should assume that there is Dragon Age out there and we've talked about it publicly that it's in the works, and it probably comes after fiscal '22,” COO Blake Jorgensen told Mike Hickey of Benchmark Company on a conference call. But you should assume that it's out there and plans are under way for that product as well as some other products.
The “Dragon Age” franchise is currently available across various platforms. Its online gaming platform called “Dragon Age Keep” allows players to save in-game decisions online and import the saved data to new games in the future.
Over the years, the franchise has produced three books featuring comprehensive game guides, concept art collection and text from the game’s fictional world. Additionally, six novels about “Dragon Age” had been released. A compilation of short stories called “Tevinter Nights” will be released in March 2020.
A web series, anime film and several comic series had also been made about “Dragon Age”. “Dragon Age: Blue Wrath”, an upcoming comic series featuring Fenris, is set for release on January 2020.
