With promoting his new single "Sigueme y te Sigo," preparing a new album and coaching aspiring singers on "La Voz Kids," there's no denying that Daddy Yankee is one busy bee. He still, however, has time for more tasks in his career. At the 2015 Billboard Latin Music Conference, the Puerto Rican urban star formed part of "The Art of Creative Partnering Panel" with Metro PCS, where he was announced Marketing Director of the prepaid wireless service. "Being named musical director for a technologay brand as important as Metro is a mile stone in my career," Daddy Yankee said. "It’s amazing to see how your creativity can be a part of that." Victor Cornejo, Account Director at Richards/Lerma, who also formed part of the panel, said Daddy Yankee understands Metro's target and audience, and that it's his job to shape the future of the brand.
For the "Gasolina" singer, making music for Metro PCS is a piece of cake --the majority of the consumers are Hispanics or African-Americans. "It's all about the Latin or African-American community. I come from there, so it’s nothing new to create music for my community," he said. "I have the opportunity to show a new side of Daddy Yankee." In his new venture with the cellphone company, Daddy Yankee assures he's having a lot of fun. "I'm just being myself; creative, organic and natural," he said about creating music for forthcoming commercials. "I love what I'm doing with Metro PCS because it's something new in my career."
