A mob of bikers attack the driver of a black Range Rover after an accident on the West Side Highway. LiveLeak

Approximately 1,000 motorcyclists congregated in New York City on Sunday for the "Hollywood Block Party," an unsanctioned five-borough ride that occurs at the end of every summer. Riders, stunters, dirtbikers and other bikers join together to swarms the highway and terrorize other commuters. The ride on Sunday turned dangerous when the driver of a black Land Rover Range Rover SUV accidently struck one of the many motorcyclists participating in the five-borough ride. The accident prompted a terrifying car chase that resulted in the battery of the SUV driver.

The incident was captured from the perspective of a helmet cam mounted to one of the riders. The group of riders were travelling along the West Side Highway when they approached a black Land Rover Range Rover. A number of riders can be seen riding dangerously close to the SUV when a rider in a white motorcycle sped ahead of the SUV before cutting into its lane. The rider relaxed, looked behind him to stare into the black Range Rover and slowed abruptly. With no place to go, the driver in the Range Rover struck the motorcycle.

The driver initially stopped after the accident. However, the group of motorcycle riders became wildly hostile and began to attack the Range Rover. Fearing an impeding assault on his property, and his wife and child in the vehicle, the driver decided to flee and rammed through three motorcycles to make a getaway. Unfortunately, the getaway attempt was fruitless as the unrelenting swarm of riders continued to provoke the SUV like a scene from Road Warrior.

Minutes after the chase, the SUV approached traffic and was forced to stop. A reckless rider leaps off his bike and runs to open the Range Rover's driver door in an attempt to pull the driver out of the SUV. The terrified driver slammed on the gas and knocked down another bike to make a second attempt to escape.

Inevitably, the driver is forced to stop at a red light on West 178th Street. One biker took off this helmet to use it as a weapon to smash through the driver-side window. Another rider is seen punching the rear window in the attack. Ultimately, the police reported the bikers had beaten the driver and slashed his face. Thankfully, no other injuries were reported. The riders the driver had struck and the driver's wife and child in the car with him were unharmed.

The driver, described as a man in his 30s, was taken to Columbia University Medical Center where he received stitches for his face. He has been released.

According to the NYPD, no arrests have been made as officers continue to investigate and examine the evidence.
