President Joe Biden's reelection campaign released a new ad presuming his administration policies of lowering prices for American consumers, including costs related to medication against most widespread diseases.
"For many Americans, the cost of one drug is the difference between life and death, dignity and dependence, hope and fear. And that's why we'll continue to fight to lower healthcare costs.
Speaking from the Oval Office at the White House, Biden says in a one-minute video posted on social media that through Medicare the administration capped insulin prices for seniors.
Last August, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services released a list of 10 drugs with the potential for cost reductions under a program of price negotiation as ordered by the Biden Administration.
That was the first package of medications included in the Inflation Reduction Act, a bill Democrats pushed in Congress in 2022 that allows the federal government to use Medicare to negotiate with the pharma industry for lower prices for popular prescription drugs.
In a briefing regarding Biden's healthcare policies, the White House announced that all manufacturers of all ten drugs selected for negotiation have signed agreements to participate in the Inflation Reduction Act's Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program.
Biden's Tuesday ad is part of a 16-week series his reelection campaign is pushing in key battleground states.
He also made reference to how his government has promoted investments in renewable and clean energy in order to ease financial burdens for Americans.
