With the final year of the Bowl Championship Series upon us, college football recently released its first official edition of the 2013-2014 BCS Standings. Even though this system - that creates five bowl games for 10 of the nation's best teams based on computer rankings and various polls - will no longer be used following this year's National Championship game, there will still be plenty for college football fans to discuss and argue about come the 2014-2015 campaign when a four-team playoff format will be introduced in order to determine a National Champion.

Eight weeks into the current season however, fans will have to wait a bit longer for the highly-anticipated football playoff with a lot still to be determined heading into the Bowl season. With the recent ranking and release of the BCS Standings, most fans won't be surprised to learn that some of the most consistent programs over the past few seasons find themselves near the top of the list. Two-time defending National Champion Alabama, thanks to a perfect 7-0 start rests atop the first list while Florida State - who comes off a 51-14 thumping of Clemson - sits at No. 2. Undefeated Oregon, Ohio State and the Missouri Tigers round out the extremely competitive Top 5.

The Stanford Cardinal - thanks to a big victory over previously undefeated UCLA - remain in the National Championship picture while currently sitting sixth in the first BCS rankings.
