The "Avengers 2: Age of Ultron" release date is May 1, 2015, and will mark the sixth Marvel movie that Robert Downey Jr. will play as Iron Man ("Avengers: Age of Ultron," "Iron Man 3," "The Avengers," "Iron Man 2," "The Incredible Hulk," "Iron Man"). Now, new reports suggest Age of Ultron" could be RDJ's last performance as Tony Stark!
Downey Jr. is reluctant to commit to any more Marvel movies. Earlier this month, Robert Downey Jr. revealed that there will not be "Iron Man 4" in an interview with Variety. Marvel has not made comments on the matter and we have not heard rumors of another actor replacing RDJ as Tony Stark.
However, Robert Downey Jr. may not be the only departure. Thor actor Chris Hemsworth and Captain America actor Chris Evans will also complete their contract responsibilities after the third installment of their respective films. This potentially marks the end of a remarkable era of awesome Marvel movies.
So what is next for Robert Downey Jr.? According to the Mirror, RDJ is rumored to join Hugh Jackman and Samuel L. Jackson for cameos in "Star Wars: Episode VII." In fact, rumors claim that RDJ's appearance may have something to do with avoiding breaching a contract with Disney, which owns both the Marvel Comics and "Star Wars" franchise. Details are limited and we cannot confirm what role Robert Downey Jr. will play in the highly anticpated movie. "Star Wars: Episode VII" is slated to arrive in theaters Dec. 18, 2015.
A second rumors suggests that Robert Downey Jr. has signed on for a role in the movie adaptation of the highly acclaimed "Assassin's Creed" video game. According to Cinema Blend, Michael Fassbender is tapped to play the main role of Desmond Miles. Speculations suggest Robert Downey Jr. will play as Renaissance man Leonardo Da Vinci. According to the "Assassin's Creed" franchise, Da Vinci is close friends with Ezio Auditore Da Firenze, a direct ancestor of Desmond Miles. The "Assassin's Creed" movie is rumored to arrive late 2015.
