Since the 2013 Geneva Motor Show debuted a number of stunning supercars including the McLaren P1 production car, the Ferrari LaFerrari, the Lamborghini Veneno, and the Koenigsegg Hundra Agera S, it's growing more difficult to remember the brilliance of an exciting sports car that is capable of consistent operation at a very high level every single day.
Audi released a YouTube video of the Audi R8 V10 Plus just ahead of Geneva. While sports cars like the Porsche 911 build its mystique over its heritage and hypercars like Lamborghini establish a reputation from engineering reckless lunacy, Audi delivers a highly effective precision weapon in the form of the clinical and unflappable R8.
To celebrate the brilliance that is the Audi R8 V10 Plus, the Ingolstadt automaker made a video that brings the R8's heart and soul front and center -- the Audi R8 V10 Plus bares it all as its rear body work are removed to reveal the 10 cylinder warhead responsible for producing 542 hp and 400 lb.-ft. of torque.
Intoxicating and insightful, the thunderous cacophony from the R8's exhausts are matched with the violent release of balls of fire.
According to Audi, the straight nasty YouTube video is a part of the company's latest marketing project with the image-recognition app Blipper, which allows a smartphone to scan a print in order to be directed to more media.
"The use of Blippar technology allows people to interact immediately with the car, and get under its bonnet in a way they simply would not be able to do with a 2D advertisement alone," said Audi UK's national communications manager Kristian Dean. Dean believes such apps are the future of advertising.
One thing is certain -- the more ways a person can access this outstanding video, the better. Be sure to watch the fire spitting R8 V10 Plus in the video below:
