According to Mexican media, three people burst into Arturo Peniche’s home, taking with them electronic gadgets, jewelry and cash. Peniche said at the time of the robbery that he was with his wife when three subjects entered his house, located in the Álvaro Obregón delegation, around 5:00 AM, tied them, locked them in the dressing room and fled with the loot, according to "Despierta América."
"There are two [big] kicks on my bedroom door," Peniche said. The actor also confirmed that there was no presence of weapons and part of his wounds were caused by having collided with one of the assailants.
Peniche says that the thieves entered one by one and that it was a bizarre robbery, since the thugs were a little benevolent throughout the whole situation. "First they tied my wife and then they tied me up," recounts the three-time TVyNovelas award winner. "It was kind of weird, these people gave us pillows so we were comfortable."
The Attorney General's Office said a medical examiner certified the injuries of those affected, and experts in criminology, photography and valuation carried out the first steps of the investigations.
Mexico City authorities qualify the event as a robbery with violence and the police is taking the necessary measures to find the whereabouts of the assailants.
Peniche’s fame reached unexpected levels in1992 when he starred as the leading man in the telenovela Maria Mercedes, a soap opera that was a huge international hit and launched the career of Thalía.
