Armie Hammer has finally been seen in public for the first time since he was accused of rape earlier this year.
The 34-year-old "Call Me By Your Name" actor was recently photographed in the Cayman Islands, looking relaxed in a gray T-shirt, gray shorts, and sporting a short haircut, reported Fox News.
The Cayman Islands is where Hammer’s estranged wife, Elizabeth Chambers, his son Ford, 4, and daughter Harper, 6, have been residing amid the ongoing pandemic.
Chambers replied that she's “focusing on healing, my babes, and work,” during a fan Q&A in early April on her Instagram Story, addressing her decreased social media presence amid rising public interest in the rape allegations belied against the embattled Hammer.
"[I have] a lot I've wanted to share but [it] hasn't felt right [at the moment]," said Chamber, who has largely stayed mum on the scandal hurled against her former husband.
In his private social media account, Hammer reportedly implied that he has a romantic connection in the region stating that he couldn’t wait to see “Miss Cayman.” The Miss Cayman Island Universe Committee has since criticized the post, urging the actor to apologize for his unbecoming remarks, Vulture noted.
In March, a woman named Effie, 24, accused Hammer of rape and abuse in a four-hour incident that she said happened in 2017. "The Lone Ranger" star is currently being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
Effie, together with her attorney Gloria Allred, held a news conference last month and claimed that the actor raped her on April 24, 2017, in Los Angeles. She also claimed Hammer "mentally, emotionally, and sexually" abused her throughout their relationship.
Hammer, through his attorney, denied the allegations in a statement to Fox News.
According to Andrew Brettler of Lavely and Singer, Effie sent graphic texts to Hammer telling him what she wanted him to do with her. He added that Hammer made it clear that he did not want to maintain that type of relationship.
"It was never Mr. Hammer’s intention to embarrass or expose [the woman]’s fetishes or kinky sexual desires, but she has now escalated this matter to another level by hiring a civil lawyer to host a public press conference," Brettler continued. "With the truth on his side, Mr. Hammer welcomes the opportunity to set the record straight."
Brettler concluded that from day one, Hammer has maintained that all of his interactions with Effie, and every other sexual partner of his for that matter, have been completely consensual, discussed, and agreed upon in advance, and mutually participatory.
“[The woman]’s attention seeking and ill-advised legal bid will only make it more difficult for real victims of sexual violence to get the justice they deserve," Brettler ended.
Hammer's attorney also claims the star retains "hundreds" of screenshots the woman sent to him about the nature of their relationships.
Allred told Fox News, "I challenge Armie Hammer to present all, not some, of his communications with [the woman] to the Los Angeles Police Department and answer all of their questions directly rather than through his lawyers."
