Six people were shot dead inside a home in Chihuahua state, plagued by Mexican drug cartels, leading to new massacre cases in Mexico.

Five men and one woman were shot inside a home in the Sahuaros area on Monday, Infobae reported. Initial reports indicated that a group of armed men shot the victims inside the house.

According to Excelsior, the shooters opened fire on bystanders as they boarded at least two vehicles before escaping. The victims' identities have not yet been revealed.

Authorities are still investigating what motivated the massacre and what happened before the attack.

In Chihuahua state, Mexico, two gun events resulted in at least nine fatalities last month. Armed men recently attacked Denny's restaurant on Technological Avenue in Ciudad Suarez and killed four people, Borderland Beat wrote.

According to reports, a masked armed group came into the restaurant and shot at diners. Two ladies and two men who passed away on the route to a hospital were among the victims.

A gunshot that struck the back of a waiter also injured him. Although the exact perpetrators are still unknown, all signs point to a score being settled between rival Mexican drug cartels that operate in the state.

Meanwhile, El Sol de Mexico reported a shootout between two rival armed groups in the municipalities of Valle de Allende and Coronado. The incident resulted in five people's deaths last month. Residents who heard the gunfire dialed 911.

Authorities discovered four dead with gunshot wounds on a highway connecting the two municipalities. Local reports mentioned that the two victims had been decapitated, with the heads being placed on the bonnet and roof of a white SUV, respectively.

Recent deadly attacks in Mexico's Chihuahua state may indicate that organized crime groups affiliated with the Sinaloa Cartel and the Juárez Cartel are stepping up their competition for control of the region's wide range of illicit activities. According to Justice in Mexico, these are the two of Mexico's most well-known drug cartels.

The latest attacks may have had an organized crime component, despite the fact that officials have not publicly revealed any potential motives. The Sinaloa Cartel and the Juárez Cartel have frequently clashed in the mountainous regions of western Chihuahua as they fight for control of the vast array of lucrative criminal operations in the area.
