Ariel Castro will appear before a judge again today for his second arraignment. The suspected Cleveland kidnapper will face additional rape and kidnapping charges as well as other charges in the case of Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight.

The new indictment will see Castro charged with 512 counts of kidnapping and 446 counts of rape. Castro will also face charges of gross sexual imprisonment, felony assault, child endangerment and possessing criminal tools.

Ariel Castro has been in jail since May 6 on $8 million bail. In addition to the rape and kidnapping charges Castro is also facing two counts of aggravated murder.

While holding Michelle Knight prisoner in his home for ten years, along with Berry and DeJesus, Castro beat Knight violently enough to cause a miscarriage each time she became pregnant. Michelle Knight told investigators she became pregnant by Castro five times. Each time her captor would starve and beat her, causing what the law describes as an unlawful termination of pregnancy.

When Amanda Berry escaped she had with her, her six-year-old daughter believed to be fathered by Castro. DNA later proved that Castro is in fact the child's father and details about the little girl's birth were later revealed to be disturbing.

When Amanda Berry went into labor her captor did not take the woman to the hospital, but rather forced her to give birth in a small plastic kiddie pool. To make matters worse Castro forced Michelle Knight to deliver Berry's baby.

When the child was born she stopped breathing and Castro threatened Knight's life if she did not save the baby. Knight was able to resuscitate the baby girl, who Castro claims to love and wanted access to. A judge denied this request saying that given the circumstances it would be inappropriate to allow the accused contact with the girl.

Each time Castro has appeared before the judge he has kept his head down making no eye contact with anybody in the room, even his defense team. Castro has pleaded not guilty at his first arraignment. It is possible that Castro could face the death penalty in this case. The defense has made noises suggesting he will plead guilty if the death penalty is waived.
