The same day that her debut album, "Yours Truly," skyrocketed to the top of the Billboard 200 album chart, Ariana Grande lost her voice. The up-and-coming artist is mostly known for her roles in the Nickelodeon shows "Victorious" and "Sam & Cat," but got off to a great start in the music industry until now -- at least for a little while.

"First day off in forever... Vocal rest and watching movies in with my best friend @alexaluria dunno what I'd do without her," Grande tweeted, and later added, "Thank you guys for the well wishes, I'll be better in no time... just need some rest."

The 20-year-old singer, whose wide vocal range has drawn comparisons to superstar singer Mariah Carey and the late Whitney Houston, suffered a vocal cord hemorrhage. "For those of u asking about my voice I screamed too much at my party totally irresponsible but it's better now, thanks for the well wishes," the pop star tweeted Wednesday night.

Dr. Jennifer Long of the UCLA Medical Center, told ABC News that a vocal cord hemorrhage occurs when a blood vessel within the vocal cord ruptures, causing a bruise in the delicate tissue used to produce voice. Long, who has not treated Grande, said the injury could permanently change voice quality of it's not treated appropriately.

The injury has forced Grande to cancel dozens of media appearances designed to capitalize on her chart-topping hit, "The Way," but she managed to go through her KISS FM interview using text-to-speech technology, writing messages that were voiced by a computer.

"ALERT: @ArianaGrande joins me next via #text2voice on @1027KIISFM! She's on voice rest, computer will do the talking!! Not kidding," radio deejay JoJo Wright tweeted. "Look who dropped by... @arianagrande!!! (I'm on the left) LOVE HER!!!...Why I LOVE @ArianaGrande: on voice rest, se we used text2voice! Warning: COMPUTER CURSES!!!"

Injuries aside, Ariana has had a magnificent week, joining big names like Britney Spears, Beyoncé and Alicia Keys on the list of female vocalists that have made it to number one on the charts with a debut album, which happens to be 16 -- her's included. She's the latest artist since Ke$ha to do so, and many believe that it was her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards last month, where she showed off her set of pipes and her wide vocal range, that gave her the status of rising star.

Grande is promising fans she'll be back soon.
