‘Are You The One?’ MTV Show Recap: No Perfect Match Found But Kayla Admits To Kissing Ethan

“Are You The One?” is getting more chaotic and certainly less romantic. Last week we watched as Chris attempted to manipulate Paige and now this week we watched the house erupt after Kayla revealed the truth, something you would think would be valued in “prefect match” relationships. But before we get to Kayla and her truth telling ways, lets bring it back to the beginning of last night’s episode because while it wasn’t necessarily romantic, there were a few hookups sprinkled through this week’s episode. Adam and Brittany have started hooking up again, even though they have had their fair share of explosive fights. Adam even went so far as to call Brittany “clingy” and claimed he no longer wanted to be associated with her, obviously this didn’t stop him from hooking up with her, which doesn’t seem like the perfect formula for finding your perfect match.

Following Adam and Brittany’s rekindling, the contestants participated in this week’s challenge and keeping in context with the hook up infused dating series, the challenge was aptly named “well hung.” The contestants had to pair up and hold on to ropes slick while enduring "the sexiest lube allowed in the state of Hawaii" being poured all over them. The three pairs that could hold for the longest amount of time were decreed as the winners and embarked for a private afternoon date. Joey and Ashleigh showed off their athleticism in the “well hung” challenge outlasting the entire house, while Ryan and Kayla and Chris S. and Simone were the runners-up.

At the end of the challenge, Joey and Ashleigh cleaned themselves up from the horribly messy lube, and left the house for a private date away from prying eyes, although that didn’t mean Ashleigh was still ready to let go of romances at the house. She has had a relationship with Dre for most of the season, which meant that the private date was awkward and she obviously hesitant to open to Joey. But MTV was pretty forceful in getting this pair to open up, they even spent the night in the small but sweet tent, Ashleigh was blatantly not interested in the date or Joey as they both slept on their own sides of the airbed and didn't touch. Another private date that was a disastrous was between Ryan Kayla, the runner-ups of the challenge, but instead of a private tent, Ryan suggested they spend their romantic getaway in the “Boom Boom Room.” Kayla was less than thrilled about the distasteful offer, and refused to spend the night in the grossly named room with Ryan. Unfortunately this week, Kayla couldn’t catch a break. The next morning, Kayla angrily blurted out that she had kissed Ethan earlier in the season, she admitted this frankly to Ethan’s now perfect match Amber. "I'm not throwing him under the bus," Kayla said. "I'm just laying out the facts." The facts were not received well, as the entire house quickly teamed up against her. Despite the 15 v. 1 numbers, Kayla did listen to everyone’s complaints and criticism rather appropriately until reaching her breaking point and bowing out of this week’s group date.

After the group date Kayla and Ryan were still voted into the truth booth and unsurprisingly they were not a perfect match, so their individual searches continue. Despite the disappointment with no perfect match revealed, the matching ceremony did look promising, Wes and Kayla, Chris S. and Jacy, Adam and Shanely, Ethan and Amber, Joey and Jessica, Dre and Simone, Ryan and Ashleigh, John and Brittany were all coupled up.
