Apple today announced that its annual Worldwide Developers Conference or WWDC for 2014 will be held June 2-6. As usual it will be held at Mascone West Convention center in San Francisco. The company also revealed that application for tickets to the event will start today and go until Monday, April 7. Tickets are said to be issued to attendees through a random lottery. Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing had this to say about WWDC:
"We have the most amazing developer community in the world and have a great week planned for them. Every year the WWDC audience becomes more diverse, with developers from almost every discipline you can imagine and coming from every corner of the globe. We look forward to sharing with them our latest advances in iOS and OS X so they can create the next generation of great apps."
If you don’t know what WWDC is we’ll explain. The conference is a place for developers to learn about the latest improvements and enhancements Apple’s mobile and desktop operating systems. At previous WWDC’s new product announcements have also taken place during the event’s keynote.
During WWDC 2013 the company debuted OS X Mavericks along with iTunes Radio, the completely redesigned iOS 7 and a brand new Mac Pro. It is rumored this year Apple will reveal iOS 8 along with new iPhone iterations and Retina Display MacBook Airs.
If you are interested in attending WWDC Apple has a couple of requirements. The first being a membership to the company’s paid developer program. Tickets are priced at $1599 and cannot be sold, resold or transferred. For more information check out the announcement on Apple’s website here.
