Anthony Weiner's new sexting scandal, which links the former congressman to exchanging sexually explicit messages with a 22-year-old after his resignation for similar problems, has resulted in the previous New York City mayoral frontrunner dropping in the polls. Others have urged him to quit the race. Now his bid for mayor faces another hardship. His campaign manager who brought him back into the political sphere, Danny Kedem, has resigned, Weiner's spokeswoman Barbara Morgan said Sunday.

Morgan declined to comment on Kedem's reason for leaving. Kedem joined the campaign in early spring, monitoring day-to-day operations for the former Congressman. Weiner made an appearance outside of a church in Brooklyn the day of his top aide's resignation. He praised Kedem for his work, but did not say why he quit, Reuters reported. He praised his other staffers for staying aboard the campaign.

"They've dealt with a presidential level of scrutiny and they've dealt with a candidate who has made some mistakes in his past and they are coming back up now," he said.

Weiner left politics in 2011 when he accidentally sent a lewd photo intended to be privately messaged to a woman on his public Twitter feed. He initially said he had been hacked, but later admitted to correspondence with her. Recently it has been revealed that he chatted with Sydney Leathers, an Indiana College student, under the alias Carlos Danger. Weiner has apologized for the incident and admitted Thursday that he had had sexually explicit conversations with at least three other women since leaving office.
