It may not look like it, but Angelina Jolie has been feeling down since her split from Brad Pitt. In a recent interview, the “Eternals” star admitted that she hasn’t been feeling very strong over the last few years after what happened between her and her ex-husband.
At the red carpet of Disney’s D23 Expo on Saturday night, Angelina Jolie revealed how her split from Pitt still affects her to this day. The actress attended the event to promote the sequel of “Maleficent,” “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil,” and her anticipated role as Thena in Marvel’s upcoming film, “Eternals.”
Jolie admitted that the ongoing divorce process with Brad Pitt has been tough for her, especially since her split from Pitt has left her at her feeblest emotional state. Since they announced their split in 2016, Pitt and Jolie have navigated through their messy divorce and have battled in court over the custody of their six children — Maddox, 18; Pax, 15; Zahara, 14; Shiloh, 13; and twins Knox and Vivienne, 11.
Speaking at last weekend’s event, Jolie admitted that all the events in her marriage and family life since her split from Pitt have worn her out both physically and emotionally. “I’m like everybody and, especially these last few years haven’t been the easiest, and I haven’t felt very strong,” Jolie said. “There’s something when you’re not feeling very strong, where you push yourself,” she added.
Pitt and Jolie’s divorce has been one of the most controversial subjects in Hollywood in the last three years. Why it’s taking too long for the divorce to be finalized has been in the rumor mill for quite some time, with some news outlets even claiming that Jolie has been deliberately slowing down the process because she wants to get back with Pitt.
Despite her challenges, Jolie said she’s grateful that her roles in “Eternals” and “Maleficent” have given her a much-needed boost. “I’m so grateful that I have the opportunity to play these kinds of characters that pull out every bit of strength I have and that remind me that I can be strong,” she said. “Sometimes you really feel low and you gotta pull it back up,” she added.
