Poor little rich girl. She didn't know her actions actually had consequences.
After a night out that ended up with a restaurant closing in a very chic Mexican neighborhood, because she didn't get the table she wanted, Andrea Benítez's temper tantrum is finally catching up with her.
"Lady Profeco," the name that the media gave her because her dad, Humberto Benítez Treviño is the head of the Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor (Attorney General's Office for Consumer Protection), has already cost the job of four officials, according to the Secretaría de la Función Pública or SFP (Civil Secretariat).
The affected are the deputy of Verification, the general manager of Verification and Monitoring, the general manager of Procedures and Penalties and the department head of Verification of Mexican Official Standards.
The SFP informed that it was found that officers who ordered and participated in the verification visit acted immediately, without meeting the minimum requirements for the urgent attention of an anonymous complaint.
They also said that during the investigation, no valid proof of negligence was found against Humberto Benítez Treviño and added that if during the time of the proceedings, new evidence arises to establish the liability of any other public servant, they will proceed according to the law.
Meanwhile, Benítez Treviño assured he will abide by all terms the measures taken by the SFP, following the investigation of the restaurant closing incident.
At a press conference, the official reiterated that he did not authorize the raid to the establishment, as he was recovering from hip surgery, so a resignation is out of the question.
