"The Americans" returns to FX for Season 2 on February 26, the cast and producers revealed that the premiere episode while shocks fans with a sexually explicit scene. But the major twist is that there is another person in bed with Phillip and Elizabeth, find out more about "The Americans" first threesome. FX

While the promo video for Season 2 of “the Americans” have been careful not to give anything away before the highly anticipated premiere episode, the cast of the spy drama was less cryptic. While promoting the sophomore season of the FX series, the cast and producers of “The Americans” teased fans with a spoiler filled description of a rather X-rated scene that occurs between Phillip, Elizabeth and shockingly another character. While the third member of the sex scene has yet to be identified, the threesome that they engaged in was confirmed.

Despite Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys showing their softer side with blushing cheeks, “The Americans” executive producer Joe Weisberg was not shy about explaining the sexually explicit scene in full detail. “We wanted to depict the most powerful, shocking and mildly humorous,” Weisberg told reporters. “We actually talked a lot about that moment and what would be right and what would be true. We discussed every possible position.”

While Russell was certainly a bit embarrassed by the continuing sexual talk, she did admit that the scene and other sex scenes on “The Americans” have been easy to shoot, due to the less romantic and ore carnal nature. Russell admitted, “The good thing about the sexuality of the show, at least where I’m coming at it from, is that it’s not this big, sweeping romantic movie where you have to be so in love and so beautiful and so sexy. You’re usually using the sexuality, at least in the spy end, to get something. There is kind of a freedom in that.”

In addition to the mystery threesome, the panel at the Television Critics Association revealed that fans will be viewing a different side of Martha, much more vulnerable while she engages in a new relationship with her “husband” Clark. Weisberg commented on the character change stating, “We were always intrigued by that crazy, insane idea that this fake marriage, could it be good for Martha?”
