Tonight on “American Idol” the top 5 performed for your votes. The theme tonight was “Songs picked by America.” This could be a good thing or it could be a bad thing. Depends on what songs America picked for the contestants and if they made them their own. The top 5 is composed of Alex Preston, Jena Irene, Caleb Johnson, Sam Woolf and Jessica Meuse. Jason Mraz is the mentor this week along with Randy Jackson.
Up first, Alex Preston sang “Sweater Weather.” He received great feedback from the judges. Up next, Caleb Johnson sang “Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing.” JLo said he made it his own and did a great job. Jessica Meuse came up next and she sang “Human.” She received mixed feedback from the judges. Up next, Sam Woolf sang “Sing.” He received mixed feedback from the judges. Up next, Jena Irene sang “My Body.” She received great feedback from the judges.
In the second round of the night, Alex sang “Say Something.” He received a standing ovation from Keith Urban. Harry said it was a beautiful performance and that it was the performance of the night. Keith said it was beautiful and JLo said the same thing. Jena Irene sang “Valerie.” JLo said that it was not her best performance. Sam came up next and sang “How to Save a Life.” Jessica sang “Summertime Sadness.” She received mixed feedback from the judges. Caleb sang “Still of the Night.” JLo and Keith Urban were standing during the whole song. JLo said “that’s what we call bringing down the house.” She also said it was crazy. Harry said that the song could not be sung any better than that. Don’t miss live eliminations tonight at 9 p.m. on FOX.
