Season 3 will start off with a bang and a spell of course! Seriously though, if the title of "American Horror Story's" new season didn't give it away, the main plot will center on a coven of witches, who practice "Bitchcraft" oh wait, I mean witchcraft. "Bitchcraft" is the season premiere episode, so now that we know there is a coven of witches practicing witchcraft, we are only left wondering what makes them b*thces? Well we are thinking it has less to do with their personality and more with their power, which is serious. The coven is set in New Orleans now in the present day, but we also learn a lot about the coven's past. The witches escaped persecution at the Salem Witch Trials in 1830, however now there is a new force threatening their safety.
Tsk, tsk, did you really think the coven was the only supernatural source, going bump in the New Orleans night. Voodoo will play a large role in "American Horror Story: Coven," in the premiere episode fans will meet Marie Laveau, the 19th century centenarian known as the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans. Being that this character will be a part of the flashback, we can't be sure yet whether the witches will battle against the voodoo priestess, or will the powerful women ban together in the past only to resent each other in the future?
Another character introduced in the Season 3 premiere "Bitchcraft" is Zoe, a young girl who is "shattered to discover she possesses a strange genetic affliction tracing back to the dark days of Salem." Meaning she is an incredibly powerful witch! Zoe discovers her startling abilities after having sex for the first time, as if the whole experience isn't confusing enough, Zoe accidentally kills her boyfriend. A witch that can kill through sex, men better take cover. After Zoe discovers she has startling abilities, she is sent to Miss Robichaux's Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies in New Orleans. And while Zoe, played by Taissa Farminga, may think she is better suited at the witchy academy, the trailer tells a different story.
Upon arrival Zoe is seen being pinned down to a table by a group of hooded girls. Zoe desperately screams as one of them takes a knife to plunge into her, Jessica Lange's character, Fiona, then enters and immediately stops them. "Idiots," she tells them. "The only thing you have to be afraid of is me." Even though Zoe may have a hard time fitting in with her new classmates after the first day, the school especially for witches is, "devoted to safeguarding the few remaining descendants who share this unique bloodline."
Even Fiona whom Zoe seems instantly terrified of will end up being more than meets the eye. Fiona has returned to New Orleans, but not just because she was homesick, she is back and on a supernatural mission. is described as the long-absent Supreme who also happens to be "the most powerful witch of her generation." Goode is back to protect the witches and the academy, thus discovering the "Coven's deadly enemies, the Voodoo."
"American Horror Story" premieres on FX Oct. 9 at 10 p.m. EDT with "Bitchcraft."
