Alicia Machado is no stranger to controversy since her time at the spotlight as Miss Universe 1996 and most recently joining Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail against Donald Trump. We can all agree that she was a victim of the now U.S. president, but she is in a new mess and it's all of her own doing. Over the last days Cristiano Ronaldo shared a photo of himself and his son holding his newborn twins with the caption "blessed" in the endearing family photo. The Venezuelan star took to her Instagram and criticized the Portuguese star in the comments.
"Poor little ones," she wrote. "My position continues to be radical. Why do that with so many babies in his native Brasil that are dying of hunger and have no place to live. Kids are not mascots nor scientific experiments. Selfishness is so big that he goes out and make babies. The liberty of opinion." Note that Machado said Ronaldo was from Brasil, which is not correct as the Real Madrid star is from Portugal.
But Alicia did not stop there as she received backlash from her deplorable comments and she went on to write: "Vernacular machos always come out and bark, I didn't know where he was from. What I can see is the misery. #ADOPT is the best way to show the souls nobility. A group of machos barking. Kisses."
Last year, Machado became a U.S. citizen to vote against Donald Trump for president. “Today is a very important day for me. Now I’m a U.S. citizen and I feel so proud,” Machado told Inside Edition , before she waved a miniature American flag that she was holding and said, “Mr. Trump, haha.” Machado took the Oath to Allegiance in Miami today. She posted on her Instagram a photo of herself after the Oath and wrote, “ I so proud and inspiration to be a U.S. Citizen! I'll be Voting! All my power and my support become with my next President @hillaryclinton Miss Housekeeping and miss Piggy Can Vote @realdonaldtrump.”
Alicia Machado received negative comments from Donald Trump, who used to own the Miss Universe pageant when she won the title in 1996. Following her win representing her native country of Venezuela she gained a couple of pounds and Trump humiliated her and even referred to her as "Miss Piggy."
Trump called her an “eating machine” during an interview with Howard Stern, and invited the media to watch Machado when he took her to a gym to exercise. “They took me to the gym, and I’m exposed to 90 media outlets.” Machado also told The New York Times that Trump was there, so he clearly knew what was going to happen.
“I was about to cry in that moment with all the cameras there,” she said of the humiliating moment. “I said, ‘I don’t want to do this, Mr. Trump.’ He said, ‘I don’t care.’”
Machado told “Inside Edition” that the incident made her feel publicly body-shamed and added that Trump called her names. “He called me Miss Piggy,” she revealed, saying it made her feel “so fat.” “I was very depressed in that moment,” she said.
