New York State Congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Nydia Velázquez were among the personalities who celebrated with Bad Bunny the release of his successful sixth studio album, 'DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS'.
The album, released on Sunday, January 5, on the eve of Three Kings Day, is considered a love letter to Puerto Rico and a call to action to defend the island's authenticity and culture.
After spending the week presenting his project on various Puerto Rican television stations and participating in long interviews, El Conejo Malo moved to New York, home to the largest Puerto Rican community outside the island.
Bad Bunny and AOC at Toñita's
The congresswomen, both of Puerto Rican descent, attended a party full of Puerto Rican pride at the Caribbean social club Toñita's, considered the epicenter of Puerto Rican culture in New York. There, they not only enjoyed food from the island but also listened to Bad Bunny himself as he played tracks from his new album.
The smiles on their faces reflected their excitement over this year's cultural event for Latin culture.
Benito Martínez Ocasio arrived at Toñita's, located in Brooklyn, with a full Christmas "parranda" ensemble, including percussionists, brass musicians, and even a white bunny symbolizing his artistic name.
The venue was packed, and the excitement among attendees, including the politicians, was palpable. Ocasio-Cortez, in particular, was caught on camera dancing and connecting with her parents' Puerto Rican culture.
They even posed for pictures with Toñita herself, the founder of the social club.
Bad Bunny takes over New York
The night of reggaeton, plena, bomba, and salsa was the artist's first stop in the city that never sleeps. This morning, he was spotted performing in the subway, initially in disguise, with Jimmy Fallon. He then surprised the crowd by removing his wig and performing some tracks from 'DTmF.'
He later recorded 'The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,' becoming the first Latino to co-host the iconic late-night talk and comedy show. He also performed tracks from his album.
As if all that weren't enough, Bad Bunny announced his first residency of 21 concerts at Puerto Rico's Coliseo, known as El Choli, scheduled for July and August.
