"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." had an epic Season 3, with its season opener getting more views that any episode in the second half of Season 2. Taking note of that, ABC has renewed the series for a fourth season in early March 2016.
Recently, ABC and Marvel Entertainment shared a new "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." teaser, which gives us a look at a possible new character. This new teaser comes from a picture of a San Diego Comic-Con train car that shows the series logo with a fire wrapped chain.
The picture shared on Twitter also has the caption, "Get fired up! Marvel's Agents of SHIELD knows how to get to you SDCC in style." Check out the tweet below:
While the hint may automatically lead you to Ghost Rider, as the characters' weapons include an enchanted hellfire chain, the teaser could also indicate another Marvel character seen on the series. Secret Warriors' character J.T. James (played by Axle Whitehead), aka Hellfire, used a hellfire chain as his weapon of choice and made his TV debut in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." series last year. However, with the Ghost Rider rights back at Marvel, it is possible that we could see the motorcycle-riding antihero rear his flaming head.
Meanwhile, co-star Clark Gregg talked about what is in store for his character, Agent Coulson, in the coming fourth season. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gregg said Coulson is in a tight situation and will be going through the toughest phase of his life when the show returns.
"He's not the director anymore; his destiny is not so much in his own hand as it used to be," Gregg said.
He further goes on to talk about Daisy (Chloe Bennet) being hunted by the agency she once worked for and how that will affect his character.
"The person he cares about is on the run and seems to be very sought after by the authorities. It's very much changing the game for Coulson," the actor said.
"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will return this fall on ABC.
