A 9-year-old boy was left partially blind for four days after his dad accidentally super-glued his eye after mistaking the tube for medical drops.
Doctors gave the boy, Rupert Day some eye drops after he got an itchy eye.
The incident happened in February this year when his dad Kevin Day picked up a tube and put some drops into his son's eye believing it to be the medication.
But a while later, Day shockingly realized that he had sealed his son’s eye with superglue.
"Rupert scratched his eye and we were given some eye cream," said his dad, Teesside Live reports.
"I went to put it in and then realized I had put superglue in his eye instead."
"I phoned 999 who advised us to keep flushing it and they said an ambulance was on its way."
"I wasn’t expecting the air ambulance."
Yorkshire Air Ambulance dispatched its Topcliffe aircraft and were first on the scene.
The paramedics washed the boy’s eye and administered pain relief before taking him to the Harrogate Hospital for further treatment.
"I had a massive fear that I had blinded my son and ruined his life", Kevin said.
Despite receiving treatment at the hospital, Rupert couldn’t open his eye for four days.
"I was worried if my eye would open again," the boy said.
Fortunately, the glue did not damage the boy’s eye. He has now completely recovered from the ordeal.
Rupert will be featured in Helicopter ER, shown on Channel Really at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
In a similar but unrelated incident, a 5-month-old girl died "bleeding from the brain and eyes" after her frustrated dad vigorously shook her when another player insulted him during an online video game.
22-year-old Zion Shockley, of Coatesville, Pennsylvania has been sentenced to 31 to 62 years in prison for the 2018 death of his infant daughter, Rosalie Faith Crothers-Shockley after allegedly violently swinging her to death while playing "Call of Duty" on his PlayStation.
He was originally charged with first-degree murder in the infant's death, but he subsequently pleaded guilty to third-degree murder, aggravated assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.
