During the peak of FIA Group B rally racing, the Audi Ur-Quattro was a legend among heroes. While other racing programs often fade away after competition had finally caught up to them, Audi was only forced from rally racing because the FIA governing body had terminated Group B when the events have become too dangerous and the vehicles were too powerful and deadly. The Audi Sport Quattro S1 was arguably the most powerful of all -- the FIA would later ban Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive system from international racing due to its "unfair performance advantage."
Leaving Group B, Audi also left a legacy of 23 wins and two WRC championships. To date, the Audi Sport Quattro is still one of the most powerful racing machines ever created.
Fast forward two decades and change, an Audi specialist outfit called KEM Racing, no doubt familiar with Audi Quattro's illustrious history, has decided to create an incredible monster Quattro S1 E2 of their own. During the 80's era, an Audi Quattro S1 already packed an explosive power output of 444 bhp. However, KEM Racing decided to simply ignore the Surgeon General warnings and had taken its race car all the way to an unprecedented 850 bhp.
More powerful than a Quattro S1 had ever been, KEM Racing fielded its 'PIkes Peak' Quattro to take on the unforgiving Isle of Man hill climb competition back in May.
