A 52-year-old woman who got married only last Wednesday ended up dead four days later after she was reportedly found inside a suitcase in Lightcliffe, West Yorkshire on Sunday, Oct. 31.
The woman was identified as Dawn Walker who had just gotten married on Wednesday, Oct. 27.
Police arrested a 45-year-old man in connection with the murder, said to be Walker’s new husband. He was identified as 45-year-old Thomas Nutt by the West Yorkshire Police.
The 52-year-old woman was a mother to two children from a previous relationship. She was described as a kind and friendly woman. She was known to help people, Yorkshire Live reported. She was so generous that she even once paid for a disabled man’s shopping after the latter ran short of money.
Forensics have started to search the couple’s home in Brighouse and continue to question Nutt. It appears that the cause of death of the 52-year-old was by strangulation.
Walker and Nutt reportedly got engaged in January 2020.
Most were shocked to learn about Walker’s death. Some guests at their wedding said the event was brilliant. From that time until Sunday, no one knows what happened next and how the seemingly cheerful woman ended up in such a tragic death.
Aside from Nutt, authorities are reportedly also planning to speak to the person who called them to report the death. The mystery caller’s identity remains unknown.
“Our enquiries into this incident are still at an early stage and we are particularly keen to speak with the person who initially called us,” Detective Inspector Amanda Wimbles said.
