Director Zack Snyder created an instant classic in 2006 with his action/historical fantasy film '300.' Based on the comic series of Frank Miller, '300' offered moviegoers the perfect blend of violence, gore, romance and tremendous slow-motion action scenes that helped recreate the legendary battle between 300 outnumbered Spartans and the 300,000-plus member army of Persian king Xerxes.
Starring Gerard Butler as King Leonidas, the film grossed over $450 million as a box office sensation and with news that a sequel is set to launch, fans of the Spartan army won't want to miss the upcoming flick. Due to be released in March of 2014, here's 3 Things to Know about '300: Rise of an Empire.'

1. 'Game of Thrones' Star Lena Headley Will Reprise Role as Queen Gorgo
Playing the role of Queen Gorgo, wife to former Spartan King Leonidas, Lena Headley is sure to help the '300' sequel gross millions of box office dollars. Queen Gorgo lost her husband in the battle against Persia at the end of the first movie and in his last breath, Leonidas pledged his everlasting love for his wife. It will be a point of interest to see how significant a role the Queen plays in the upcoming movie considering Gerard Butler and the King won't have a role this time around.
2. Film's Plot will delve into Xerxes' rise from King to God
Played once again by Rodrigo Santoro, Persian King Xerxes begins his rise to becoming a God while his army of over 300,000 continues to conquer inferior military forces and lands. Having already defeated Leonidas in the previous movie, Xerxes will not only wish to achieve control of multiple territories, he'll also strive to become one of the most beloved figures in the world.
3. Eva Green and Sullivan Stapleton take on major roles
Eva Green, who rose to fame through her role as Vesper Lynd in the James Bond movie 'Casino Royale' will play the part of Queen Artemisia, a Persian leader who plans to use her entire navy to defeat the Greeks who are led by Sullivan Stapleton's character Themistocles. A politician and general, Themistocles is in command of the Greek allied fleet as they attempt to thwart the Persian invasion. Green and Sullivan are certainly recognizable actors to avid moviegoers but once this film is released in March, expect these stars to become household names. The on-screen battle between these two will undoubtedly add to the film's intensity.
