18-Year-Old Boy Kills Himself After His Mother Elopes With Her Lover

An 18-year-old boy reportedly killed himself after his mother eloped with her lover in Nangal Pannuan village, Amritsar, India on Sunday, Oct. 9.

The victim, an 18-year-old boy named Lovepreet Singh, who used to work at a petrol pump, was devastated after his mother recently ran away with her lover. Upset over this, Singh allegedly consumed some poisonous substance two days ago and committed suicide on Sunday, Oct. 9, the Tribune reported.

According to the father of the deceased, Gurmail Singh, his wife and the victim's mother, Sukhwinder Kaur, had an extramarital relationship with a man named Sukhminder Singh. Even though the family members warned her to end her affair with the man, she was adamant and continued the affair. About four days before, she left the house and eloped with Sukhminder. The victim, who was reportedly close to his mother, could not cope with the shock and decided to take his own life.

Following the incident, based on a complaint filed by Gurmail, the police registered a case against the deceased boy's mother and her lover under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC (Indian Penal Code).

The officers have launched an investigation to nab the suspects, who are absconding the officers.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a twelve-year-old boy allegedly killed himself at his home in Khera village, Ludhiana, Punjab, India on Tuesday, July. 12, exactly two years after his mother had also taken her own life, as previously reported.

The underage boy, identified only as Armaandeep, reportedly locked himself inside his room on Tuesday, July. 12, after telling his grandmother that he had pending homework to do and that his teacher had told him to complete it.

When Armaandeep did not come out of his room after several hours, his grandfather and other family members broke the door open only to find the boy hanging lifeless from the ceiling.

Armaandeep reportedly remained upset after his mother took her own life some two years ago by consuming poison. Following his mother's death, the boy had to take responsibility for his older sister.

The incident happened while Armaandeep's father had gone to work and Armaandeep was at home with his grandmother and older brother.
