In an apparent murder-suicide, a 14-year-old girl was discovered dead inside a Baldwinsville home early on Friday, according to law enforcement officials.
Ava Wood, 14, was shot by her father Christopher Wood, 51, inside their Baldwinsville, New York, home on Jan. 20 before he turned the gun on himself. They were found dead in two separate bedrooms, with Ava found in a bed, police said.
Ava Wood and her father Christopher Wood were found inside their residence at 6 Triangle Place, a street off West Genesee Street in the village of Baldwinsville, both with fatal gunshot wounds. The father's wounds seemed to be self-inflicted, police said. According to deputies in Onondaga County, he was carrying a shotgun.
According to Onondaga County 911 Center transmissions, the victim's mother, Heather Wood, called 911 at 8:31 a.m. on Friday to request a status check at 6 Triangle Place after her daughter failed to arrive for school.The woman stated that there were cars in the driveway but no one was at the door. She informed the dispatchers that the daughter's father was present at the house with with the girl, who, according to the mom, was depressed and had told the mom, "This is how it ends for us" the night before.
When the police arrived, they entered the home with the house keys the mother had provided them and found the two victims with gunshot wounds in separate beds.
The source claims that even though the pair had separated and was no longer together, Christopher Wood was still wed to the mother of the girl. The teenager has mostly been residing with her father, according to the reports.
According to Shelley, the mother and father had been involved in two prior domestic disputes. Both incidents were peaceful, according to Shelley.
He said the most recent incidence happened just two days earlier. The mother was receiving harassing text messages from the father. He stated that the earlier occurrence occurred in March 2022. The event featured stalking, reports syracuse.

A GoFundMe campaign has also been launched to help the Wood family with funeral expenses.
