12th Grader Fatally Stabbed Older Brother For Stopping Him From Assaulting Their Mother; A School Principal

A teen student was arrested for allegedly stabbing his older brother to death during an altercation over money to buy drugs, reports said.

The 19-year-old suspect, Jerly John, a Class XII student in Pachaiyappa's government aided school in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, is accused of murdering his 22-year-old brother, P Vincent on Sunday, Sep.11, according to reports.

The incident reportedly happened at the family’s home in Orikkai village in the Kancheepuram district.

Police say John, an alleged drug addicted, assaulted his mother, a school principal, after she refused to give him money to buy drugs last Saturday night, the Times of India reported.

John got enraged when Vincent intervened and tried to save their mother from his attack. The brothers got into a scuffle and that’s when John stormed into the kitchen and returned with a knife, police said.

Vincent suffered multiple stab wounds and was found unresponsive, lying in a pool of blood, when neighbors rushed to the home after hearing their mother’s screams for help.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival, police said. The body was then sent to a medical examiner’s office for an autopsy, following which It was handed over to the relatives for performing his rites.

Meanwhile, the teen suspect, who fled the scene after the murder, was later located and arrested from his friend’s home in the wee hours of Sunday..

John is currently being held in judicial custody. A further investigation is underway.

LT reported a similar incident, when a 38-year-old man beat his elderly mother to death with a stick after she refused to give him money to buy drugs.

The victim, 60-year-old Bhinder Kaur was murdered in the wee hours of Monday, Oct. 8, 2021, at her home in India.

Her eldest son, Jagjivan Singh alias Jaggi was booked by the police after her younger son, Dalbir Singh filed a complaint against his brother accusing him of murdering their mother.

Samrala SHO inspector Kulwant Singh said the accused, who is a drug addict, used to frequently pick up fights with his mother after he comes home in an intoxicated state.

He used to beat her whenever she refused to give him money to buy drugs, the officer said.

The accused man’s drug addiction also cost him his marriage. The man’s wife had left him two years ago and had since been living at her maternal home with their two daughters, police said.

Jaggi was arrested and charged with the murder of his mother.
