An 11-year-old boy has died after being repeatedly raped and abused by four brothers, who gave him HIV.
The minor victim was in a coma when he suffered two cardiac arrests at a hospital in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, on Saturday, June 11. The doctors were able to revive him after the first heart attack but sadly, the child succumbed to the second, reports said.
The heinous crime behind the boy’s death came to light the previous weekend when his mother went to the cops demanding justice.
She told the authorities that her son was repeatedly raped by four brothers, who were their neighbors.
The sick perpetrators - aged 15, 17, 23, and 28 - had been abusing the boy for more than two years, reports said. The eldest of the four brothers died of AIDS last year.
The terrified victim only revealed his ordeal after he fell ill and tested positive for HIV last year.
"I want justice... There has to be justice. My son will go away forever and they will laugh," the boy's mother Bertha said.
"Even if they kill me, I will not remain silent: wherever I go, I'll talk."
The country's president, Luis Arce took to social media to express his condolences to the victim’s family and demand justice for the boy.
"We express our deepest pain at the departure of the little boy in Yapacani," President Arce wrote.
"This tragic outcome cannot go unpunished, it is inconceivable to accept so much evil against an innocent child."
"To his family, all our support, and our deepest condolences."
One of the alleged rapists was beaten up by a group of residents from the boy's hometown when he was brought to the court last week.
The mob breached security to attack the suspect and then forced him to run naked through a public square, according to Diarionline.com.
He was later sent to the Palmasola prison in Santa Cruz. One of the teenage suspects is now in a juvenile court and will be kept in custody at the Cenvicruz rehabilitation center.
The other teenager is reportedly absconding and is believed to have fled to Chile.
