A 10-year-old girl reportedly died after her teacher hit her on the head with a stick for making a spelling mistake in El Sinbellawein, Egypt on Sunday, Oct. 9.
The minor victim, identified as Bismallah Mohammed, 10, was told to write something on the blackboard at her school in El Sinbellawein, Egypt, by her Arabic teacher on Sunday, Oct. 2. However, while writing on the blackboard, the minor girl made a spelling mistake. Enraged, the teacher decided to punish her and hit her on the head with a stick, the National reported.
The victim reportedly lost consciousness after suffering the blow. The victim was then taken to her home. Following this, the girl was rushed to the hospital by her father for treatment. According to the girl's father, the girl never regained consciousness and went into a coma. After undergoing treatment at the hospital for a week, the girl died on Sunday, Oct. 9.
Following the incident, the other students confirmed that the teacher, who is in his 50s, was always violent with them. The teacher has been arrested and the school’s headteacher has been suspended pending the completion of an investigation, Roya News reported.
Similarly, a 7-year-old girl died on Monday, Oct. 3 after she fell out of a third-story window at her Cairo school as she ran away from a teacher who was allegedly trying to physically punish her.
In another incident, a 15-year-old boy died after he was allegedly brutally thrashed by his teacher for making a small mistake during a class test in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India on Monday, Sept. 26, as previously reported.
The teenage boy, identified as Nikhit Dohre, a tenth-grade student, studied at a government school Adarsh Inter College in Auraiya, Lucknow. Dohre's Social Science teacher Ashwani Singh reportedly administered a test in his class on Sept. 7. During the test, even though Dohre had prepared a lot for the exam, the teen accidentally made a small mistake and misspelled a word.
Singh, who reportedly belongs to the upper caste, allegedly felt enraged and grabbed the lower-caste boy by the hair and beat him mercilessly with a stick, and also kicked him till he fell unconscious on the ground inside the classroom.
The boy was later taken to a private hospital for treatment. When the boy regained consciousness, he reportedly had difficulty in breathing and suffered internal injuries. Even though he was treated at several hospitals for weeks, he died in an ambulance while he was being transferred to the UP University of Medical Sciences in Saifai, Etawah for treatment on Monday, Sept. 26.
