A 31-year-old now-former teacher at the Thomas Clarkson Academy is in jail for allegedly taking indecent photos of students and staff using a pen with a hidden camera.
He was identified as Jeffrey Wilson. Aside from his devious acts done at the Thomas Clarkson Academy, he also did the same in another school, the Hills Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge per reports.
It was in February when authorities searched Wilson’s home after an IP address was linked to viewing indecent images of children online. Electronic devices that included mobile phones, laptops, tablets and USB sticks were seized at the time.
When checked, the devices contained multiple upskirting images, reportedly taken during the six months when Wilson worked at the two schools from April to September of 2019.
One of the videos even showed a woman undressing at her home. A further search was conducted that led to the discovery of the pen with a camera.
It was found that there were nearly 53,000 indecent images or videos of children on the device. Of those, 90 were Category A or the most severe.
Wilson eventually admitted to three counts of making indecent images of children, three of voyeurism and two of recording an image under clothing to observe another without consent.
In the aftermath of his devious acts, Wilson was jailed for a year and subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
“This was a truly disturbing case. Wilson was in a position of trust, which he abused by violating both colleagues and students for his own gratification.” Det Con Keith Evans stated. “These images were taken without the knowledge of the victims and it is impossible to identify them. Wilson’s actions will inevitably cause a great deal of distress to pupils, their parents and staff at the schools.”
Richard Scott, the principal for Thomas Clarkson Academy, also stated the case of Wilson.
“We are disappointed, shocked, and appalled to learn of these deceitful offences committed by a former member of staff who left the school in 2019. Sadly his actions only came to light earlier this year when he was arrested by police,” he said.
